VIRGINIA CHAMBER ANNOUNCES "FANTASTIC 50" COMPANIES for 2005
U.S. Senator George Allen to Serve as Featured Speaker
The Virginia Chamber of Commerce will announce the annual "Fantastic Fifty" list of 50 of the fastest-growing companies in the state. The winning companies will be saluted at the annual awards banquet held at the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly on April 28. This year marks the ten year milestone of the Fantastic 50 program.
U.S. Senator George Allen will be the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Senator Allen currently serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Commerce, the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee. Senator Allen spoke at the inaugural Fantastic Fifty Awards Banquet in 1996 as then Governor of the Commonwealth. Delegate Harry J. Parrish of Prince William will be honored at the event with the Virginia Chamber’s Distinguished Legislator Award for his leadership in the Virginia General Assembly protecting and enhancing the business climate of Virginia.
The ceremony will also recognize the companies with the highest growth rates in five specific business categories with the Virginia Vanguard Awards. This year the Virginia Vanguard winners are: Highest Growth Overall: THR Enterprisies, Inc. of Norfolk, a general contracting firm; Technology: Intelligence Data Systems Inc. of Reston, an information technology services company; Manufacturing: AVID Medical Inc. of Toano, a provider of custom procedure trays for the healthcare industry; Service: Strategic Business Systems Inc. of Herndon, which provides information technology services; and Retail/Wholesale: Premier Pet Products LLC of Richmond, a distributor and manufacturer of pet products.
The Fantastic 50 award program is sponsored by the Virginia Chamber, Virginia Business Magazine, Goodman and Company, SunTrust Bank and Westfields Marriott. The networking reception prior to the awards banquet is sponsored by Old Dominion Electric Cooperative. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance, freeRadical and In Your Ear music studio are also Fantastic 50 sponsors.
Nominations for the Fantastic 50 are sought statewide from local chambers, economic development organizations, and through the sponsors’ networks. Companies could also nominate themselves. To be eligible, companies are required to be privately held, with headquarters in Virginia, and to show sales between $200,000 and $100 million. They are judged on a four-year sales revenue history. Verification of all award entries is conducted by the professional service firm of Goodman and Company.
