Learn About This Location
Cebu City is like an large Manila; energetic, engaging and whirlwind-paced, or loud, gritty and aggressive, depending on the perspective. At first glance, it doesn't seem amenable to tourists, with its honking rickshaws and tuk-tuks belching exhaust fumes, shopping-mall culture and lack of world-class architectural attractions. But if given a chance, travelers can find plenty to do here. Its rich history is quite well documented in several museums. The upscale Lahug area turns on at night with bars and clubs to suite every palate. Just across the bridge is Mactan Island, one of the few places on the planet with world-class diving just minutes from an international airport.
