Columbus is the county seat of Bartholomew County, Indiana, and had a population of 44,061 as of the 2010 census. The relatively small city provided a unique place for respected Modern architecture. Lying 40 miles south of Indianapolis, on the east bank of the White River, it is Indiana's 20th largest city.
