About this property

You’ll hear us say that the Wainwright Downtown Apartments is like no other building in downtown Norfolk. We want you to say it, too. That’s why we’ve spared no expense in our construction choices, interior finishes and building amenities. We hired the best in the business to ensure that our Norfolk apartments are top notch. You’ll find double thick concrete gives you all the privacy you need while high end windows let in the light but not the noise.

The Wainwright is tucked in the charming Freemason neighborhood, just steps from downtown Norfolk, the Chrysler Museum of Art, Harrison Opera House, Harbor Park and MacArthur Center. Looking for a hot night out, turn left and head to Granby. Looking for a relaxing weekend walk? Turn right and browse the vintage booksellers, the eclectic shops that dot Freemason, all while nibbling on noshes from the local coffee shop.

Gourmet chef? You’ll love the sleek lines of our kitchens and appreciate the clean brushed nickel finishes (after all, your food should be the focus). More of a weekend host? Take that party to the private deck on the roof and get your grill on. Looking for a little private time? Luxuriate in our mercifully deep tubs after a hard day or solid workout in our fitness center. We’ve even taken your furry friends into account. You’ll find lots of green spaces for fido to frolic (and enjoy a few doggie play dates) just a short stroll away.

About Norfolk, Virginia

Learn About This Location

With the world's biggest naval base, Norfolk's reputation as a rowdy port town filled with drunken sailors isn't surprising. Recently, the city has worked to clean up its image through development, gentrification and promoting its blossoming arts scene.

Norfolk is located in the Hampton Roads metropo area, named for the large natural harbor located at the entrance of Chesapeake Bay. The city is bound to the west by the Elizabeth River and to the north by the Chesapeake Bay. It also shares borders with Chesapeake to its south and Virginia Beach to its east. It's among the oldest cities in the Hampton Roads, and considered the historic, urban, financial, and cultural center of the area.

The city has a history as a strategic military and transportation town. The city also contains the corporate headquarters of the Norfolk Railway and Maersk Line Ltd, which manages the world's largest fleet of US-flag vessels. Norfolk has miles of riverfront and bayfront property, including beaches on the Bay. It is linked to its neighboring cities by a network of highways, bridges, tunnels, and bridge-tunnel complexes—the only bridge-tunnels in the US.
