Long Beach is a city in Southern California, on the Pacific coast, and is the 36th-largest city in the US. It had a population of 462,257 in 2010. Its port is the United States' second busiest container port and among the world's largest shipping ports. Long Beach also has a large oil industry with wells underground and offshore. Downtown Long Beach is located 22 miles south of Downtown Los Angeles, though the two border each other on Long Beach's southwestern portion.
