Buffalo Grove is split along Lake Cook Road into two parts: the Lake County Vernon Township part; and the Cook County Wheeling Township one. Both sides differ in their demographics and characteristics shared with neighboring communities. Unincorporated Prairie View is located in two different sections within the village. First, there is the larger and historic portion to the north.
