Terre Haute is a city in Indiana, near the border with Illinois. As of 2010 census it had a metropolitan area population of 171,274. With several institutions of higher learning such as the Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, the city has a college town character. Terre Haute was awarded the honor of "Community of the Year" in 2010 by the Indiana Chamber. Terre Haute was home to Socialist Party of America leader and Eugene V.
