Stafford is acity in Stafford County in northern Virginia, 10 miles north of Fredericksburg, about 40 miles south of Washington, D.C. The Marine Corps Base Quantico is located just north. 

Samuel Argall abducted the Pamunkey princess Pocahontas near Stafford in 1613 in an attempt to secure several English prisoners for release. The vicar, Alexander Whitaker converted Pocahontas to Christianity during that time. She was given the name "Rebecca" at her baptism, and she married English colonist John Rolfe in 1614 in Jamestown.
