Wichita is the largest city in Kansas and the 49th-largest nationally. Seated on the Arkansas River, Wichita is the county seat of Sedgwick County and had a population of 641,076, according to the 2014 census.

Wichita began as a trading post in the 1860s, and later, a destination for cattle drives traveling from Texas. In the 20s and 30s, there were several aircraft manufacturing companies established in Wichita including Beechcraft, Cessna, and Stearman Aircraft.
