Norman is a city in Oklahoma, 20 miles south of Oklahoma City within the greater metropolitan area. The city was settled during the Land Run of 1889, which opened the Unassigned Lands of Indian Territory to pioneer settlement. The city was formally incorporated on May 13, 1891. The city is home to the University of Oklahoma, the largest university in the state, which has approximately 30,000 students.
