Rogers was named in honor of Captain Charles Warrington Rogers, vice-president and general manager of the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway, colloquially called the Frisco. Rogers was established in 1881, the same year the Frisco line arrived, and incorporated on June 6, 1881.
Rogers was the location of the first Wal-Mart, whose headquarters is in nearby Bentonville. Daisy Outdoor Products has both its headquarters and its Air Rifle Museum in Rogers. BusinessWeek ranked Rogers as 18th on its list of the 25 most affordable suburbs in the American South in 2007.
