San Bruno is a city in San Mateo County, California, between South San Francisco and Millbrae, about 12 miles south of San Francisco.
Major development began after the 1906 earthquake and fire- its first public school wasfinished in late 1906. California's first state highway, El Camino Real, began progress in 1912 in front of San Bruno's Uncle Tom's Cabin. The adjacent San Francisco International Airport opened in 1927. Charles Lindbergh was an early visitor during his national tour following his transatlantic flight.
