Government travel

Yes, for most travel expenses. Some agencies allow personal cards for M&IE, but check your agency policy.

Complete a Travel Authorization (TA) with all required details—destination, purpose, dates, lodging, transportation—and secure supervisor/official approval before traveling.

A daily allowance for lodging and meals/incidentals (M&IE) used to reimburse employees on official travel.

Lodging, rental cars, gas, and any expense over $75. M&IE receipts are usually not required.

The GSA sets rates for CONUS travel, the DoD sets non-foreign rates (e.g., Alaska, Hawaii), and the State Department sets foreign rates.
